Recognizing our critics

Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Thought:

Apostle Paul in his instructions to the church of Thessalonica asks them to recognize three important characteristics in people; those who work hard, those who care for others, and those who admonish others. It seems sensible and practical to appreciate hard-working and caring people but it’s not easy to appreciate them when they strongly criticize us. The type of admonishment that Paul talks about is done in love where the person who admonishes someone cares enough about them to boldly warn them of their sinful ways. A simple illustration is a mother admonishing her child for playing with fire. We know she does it in love and it is for the child’s well-being. As believers, we should be able to humbly accept and live with people who admonish us, at the same time, when a situation arises, we should also be courageous enough to admonish others in love.

Word:

1 Thessalonians 5: 12, 13

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord, and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work.

Prayer:

Lord, help us to be humble when You or others admonish us, help us fix our sinful ways, and also give us the courage to admonish others in love. Amen.

Sharing the Gospel

Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Thought:

As believers, we are called upon to share the gospel with others.  Before we share, we should remind ourselves of the reason or motive behind this sharing. It was indeed done to spread the knowledge and love of Christ. Paul is a great person to emulate in sharing the gospel. In Acts 17 v16, he is distressed by seeing people worshipping idols and being ignorant of who God truly is. His response to the distress is to love on them by sharing the gospel Acts 17 v22-31. To understand the extent of his sacrificial and selfless love we can refer to Romans 9 v1-3 where he is willing to cut himself off from Christ so that his people may know Christ.

Word:

Acts 17:16

While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was greatly distressed to see that the city was full of idols.

Romans 9:1-3

I speak the truth in Christ—I am not lying, my conscience confirms it through the Holy Spirit—I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race.

Prayer:

Lord, we thank you for the love and mercies we receive from you every day. We pray that you lead our hearts to share the gospel with others in love. Amen.

Submit to all Authority

Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ.

Word: 1 Peter 2:13-14
Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.

Thought:

Human authority can be upper management at the workplace or local/national governments. In any case, they aren’t always believers themselves. But in all cases they are appointed by God and thus we should submit to them, this doesn’t necessarily mean we agree with them, but we are called to be humble and respectful to them. Grumbling, gossiping, being disobedient and hateful are some ways we fail in being submissive. When we find it hard to live under any authority, we just need to pray and ask God for endurance through it rather than react to their wrongdoings.

Prayer:

LORD, We know You appointed all authority, therefore help us to be submissive to them and we pray that you bless the authority and provide them with wisdom and strength to lead the people and make decisions as per Your will. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

Rivers of Living Water

Dear all,
Be strong in the Lord and His mighty power. Ephesians 6: 10

Word: Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again. Anyone who drinks the water I (Jesus Christ) give will never thirst – not ever. The water I give will be an artisan spring within, gushing fountains of an endless life. If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me this way, just as the scripture says ‘ You’ll be like a well-watered garden, a gurgling spring that never runs dry. (John 4: 13-14, John 7: 38-39; Isaiah 58:11).

Thought:
Are we looking up to Jesus to satisfy us or are we running vainly behind worldly things?

By Grace, you have been saved, through Faith In Christ Jesus

Dear all,

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15: 13

Word:

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Thought:

Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19: 9-10

2 Corinthians 2:14 says, But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.

We are saved by God’s grace, and grace is love that pays a price. The sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man must be balanced.

Always Remember – We are on the Winning side – Christ Jesus is the Victor!

Dear all,
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Phil 1:2
Word:
When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”

“Living Under An Open Heaven.”

Dear all,

Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Galatians 1: 3 – 4.

Word:  “Living Under An Open Heaven.”

But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”  At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, dragged him out of the city, and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul. While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep. Acts: 7: 55 – 60.

Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” John 11: 40

Thought:

A Christian’s happiness and joyful life are not dependent on his circumstances. Keep honoring God in your conduct and words. Stephen’s death had a profound impact on Paul, who later become the world’s greatest missionary. Even those who oppose you now may later turn to Christ.

Thirsty?

Dear all,

Greetings in the mighty name of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Word:  Jesus answered, “All who drink this water will be thirsty again.  But anyone who drinks the water I give him will never be thirsty. In fact, the water I give him will become a spring of water in him. It will flow up into eternal life.” John 4: 13 and 14

The Lord says, “I sent a great army of locusts to attack you. They included common locusts, giant locusts, young locusts and other locusts. I will make up for the years they ate your crops. You will have plenty to eat. It will satisfy you completely. Then you will praise me. I am the Lord your God. I have done wonderful miracles for you. My people will never be put to shame again. You will know that I am with you in Israel. I am the Lord your God. There is no other God. So my people will never be put to shame again. Joel 2: 25-27.

Serving the Servant King LORD Jesus Christ

Dear all,

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15: 13

Word: Not to be served but to serve:

For even the Son of Man did not come to be servedbut to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10: 45

Thought: The essence of the Christian life is based on faith in LORD Jesus Christ. In this human life span, we need to be led by the power of the Holy Spirit to avoid the domination of flesh over us. When we have the attitude of Christ Jesus in our mind we will see the world with the eyes of Jesus, which is with compassion to bring a healing touch to those who are in need.

Remember we are the ambassadors of Christ Jesus! Yes, we are!

Christ-centered attitude colors our whole personality!

Dear all,

May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace and bless you as a channel of blessings.

Romans 12:2 says “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect”.

Thought: How to Be a Discerning person? –  Our attitude colors our whole personality!

What we feed our minds is more important than what we feed our bodies. The websites we visit, the books we read, the people we talk with, the Christian music we listen to, and the Christian preachers we listen to are all part of our diet to our mind. Be discerning, because what you feed your mind influences your overall health and well-being. Thus a strong desire like Heroes of faith Joshua, Daniel, and Paul, etc (Hebrews 11) to discover knowledge is a mark of wisdom in Christ Jesus. Our attitude colors our whole personality.

The true happiness in Christ Jesus is in our thoughts, not based on the things that we have. We cannot always choose what happens to us, but we can choose our attitude toward each situation. The secret to a joyful heart is filling our minds with thoughts that dwell on the good things in life (Philip 4: 8). This was Paul’s secret as he faced imprisonment because of the true Gospel of Christ Jesus and it can be ours as we face struggles of daily living. Look and check your attitude and then examine in the presence of God what you allow to enter your mind and what you choose to dwell on. You may need to make some positive changes and seek to do what is right, walk humbly with the LORD Jesus Christ in this Journey (Zephaniah 2: 3). Be the Church (Romans 12:3-5) and be a tentmaker like Aquila and Pricilla’s family (Acts 18:1-4; 18-20; 24-26).
