Word of God

Word:

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalms 119:105

Jesus Said “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”. John 10:10b

Thought:

God’s word is the flash light for our Journey. The Spirit of the Lord brings wisdom, understanding, knowledge and the fear of the Lord. Fear the Lord and depart from evil.

Open now the crystal fountain,

Whence the healing stream doth flow;

Let the fire and cloudy pillar

Lead me all my journey through.

Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer,

Be Thou still my Strength and Shield;

Be Thou still my Strength and Shield.  William Williams (1717-1791)

Freedom in Christ

Word:

Freedom in Christ

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8: 34-36.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

Galatians 5: 1 and 13.

Thought:

Lord Jesus Christ was born in this world, died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and was raised to set us free from sin. Let us practice to walk humbly with Him every moment.

Jesus paid it all,

All to Him I owe;

Sin had left a crimson stain,

He washed it white as snow.

Elvina M. Hall (1865)

Faith walk with Christ Jesus

Word:

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.  Heb 11: 1-3

“The just shall live by faith” Hab 2:4

“For we live by faith, not by sight” 2 Cor 5:7

Thought:

God’s word has awesome power. When He speaks do we listen and respond? How can we better prepare our self to respond to God’s word? God wants our faith that leads to a personal, dynamic and intimate relationship with Him.

Faith is a precious gift of God that grows as we apply it in our day to day life.

Firm as a rock, though surges dash around us!

Firm as a rock, though trials dark may fall!

Yet shall we cling to Him, the Rock of Ages,

Jesus, the Holy One, our All in All! (Fanny J. Crosby, 1823-1915)

God is almighty and powerful

God’s Word:

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance? Who has measured the Spirit of the LORD, or what man shows him his counsel? Whom did he consult, and who made him understand? Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding? Isa 40:12 – 14

Thought: Isaiah describes God’s power to create, His provision to sustain and His presence to help. God is almighty and powerful. No person or thing can be compared to God. But even so, He cares for each of us personally.

We describe God as best as we can with our limited knowledge and language. But our understanding of Him and His power are limited when we compare Him to what we experience on earth.

What is your concept of God especially as revealed in His son Lord Jesus Christ? We should not limit His power in our life by underestimating Him.

Encourage others in Christ the solid rock

Encourage others in Christ the solid rock

Thought of the week:

When they arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the half shekel [the temple tax] went up to Peter and said, Does not your Teacher pay the half shekel? He answered, Yes. And when he came home, Jesus spoke to him [about it] first, saying, What do you think, Simon? From whom do earthly rulers collect duties or tribute–from their own sons or from others not of their own family? And when Peter said, From other people not of their own family, Jesus said to him, Then the sons are exempt.

However, in order not to give offense and cause them to stumble [that is, to cause them to judge unfavorably and unjustly] go down to the sea and throw in a hook. Take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find there a shekel *. Take it and give it to them to pay the temple tax for Me and for yourself. Mat 17: 24-27.

*a shekel = 11.44 grams

Remember God always

Remember God always

Word:

You saw with your own eyes the great trials, the signs and wonders, the mighty hand and outstretched arm, with which the LORD your God brought you out. The LORD your God will do the same to all the peoples you now fear. Deuteronomy 7:19

Thought:

We will have days of Heaven on earth when we remember God always and in all things.

Look at the Stars

Look at the Stars

Word for the week:

The LORD took Abram outside and said, “Look up at the heavens and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness. Genesis 15:5-6

Jesus looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, “Ephphatha!” (which means, “Be opened!”). Mark 7:34

Jesus is Power

Jesus is Power

Word:

“Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, ‘Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: That which is devoted is among you, O Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove it. Joshua 7:13

Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Ephesians 6:11

Thought:

Once God has spoken; Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God (Ps 62:11)

God is in control

God is in control

As we meditate on the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, we see how God was in control of each and every aspect of our Savior’s birth.

The same was true in the lives of the early apostles. Even when they faced severe persecution God was in control.

Memory verse for the week:

Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were anticipating.” Acts 12:11

Thought for the week:

Not only was God in control in the early church but even now He is on the throne.

Power of God

Power of God

This advent season as we learn more about the obedient nature of Mary and Joseph, let’s resolve to their example. Then we can experience the Power of God that saved them from the evil schemes framed by Herod.

Word: Mary said “My soul magnifies the Lord.” (Luke 1:46)

Thought: God’s unsearchable ways deserves our unbounded praise
