True Contentment

Thought:

True contentment comes only when we submit ourselves to God and absolutely follow His plan. As we admit our failures and humbly seek to do God’s will, we find ourselves drawing closer to God. As we draw close to God, He will renew our Spiritual lives. Once we have renewed our mind in Christ Jesus, we will have a vision that was inscribed by our LORD Jesus on our hearts and minds to carry out His will without grumbling.

Thought: Let us renew our vision and confidence in Christ.

We are God’s new creation and God continues to work in us to make us what He wants us to be. To do this God uses three tools.

  1. Word of God
  2. Prayer
  3. Suffering

As we read God’s Word, understand it, meditate on it, and feed on it, the Word goes to work in our lives to cleanse us and nourish us. As we pray, God’s Spirit works in us to release power. And as we suffer, the Spirit of God ministers to us. Suffering drives us back to the Word and prayer, and the cycle is repeated. Adapted from Warren W. Wiersbe’s Bible Commentary.

Doers Vs Hearers

Dear all,

Listening and Doing:

But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.

James 1: 22 – 25

It is important to listen to what God’s Word says, but it is much more important to obey it and to do what it says. We can measure the effectiveness of our Bible study time by the effect it has on our behavior and attitudes. Do you put into action what you have studied?

When a person is truly born again, he has the Spirit of God living within (Romans 8:9), and the Spirit enables him to know and do the Father’s will. God’s love in his heart (Rom 5:5) motivates him to obey God and serve others.

Obedience to God’s word – Evidence of true faith (James 2: 14).

Prayer – Spiritual Warfare

Dear all,

Be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus. II Timothy 2: 1

 Word and Thought:

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. (2 Corinthians 10:3-4)

The weapons of spiritual warfare are not worldly. They are powerful through God to demolish the devil’s forts. We don’t wage war with human plans and methods. Remember, we should always sharpen our spiritual weapons in prayer and by waiting before God with perseverance (Ephesians 6:13 -18).

Thought:

When God is supplying all our weapons for the spiritual battle, no challenge is too big to win. While we are walking through a rocky road – Remember Jesus also walked on the same road. So He is able to give strength to overcome the evil with good.

Whatever the resources we have let us use them for the development of Christ’s kingdom. Moses had a stick – God asked Moses what is in your hand and God used Moses mightily. David had a pebble – God has used that pebble. Gideon – God encouraged him by addressing him as a” mighty man”. Now whatever resources we have in our hands – let us use for Christ’s Kingdom.

Though the ills of earth may wound me,

And the storms of life confound me—

With His loving arms around me,

I’ll go with Him all the way!

Moving Forward

Thought:

Paul said that his goal was to know Christ in a personal way, and to be all Christ had in mind for him. This goal took all of Paul’s energies, focus and time. We should not let anything take our eyes off our goal. Knowing Christ with the single-mindedness of an athlete in training we must lay aside everything harmful and forsake anything that may distract us from being effective and mission minded Christians.

Weapons of Spiritual Warfare are not Worldly

Dear all,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Word and Thought:

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. (2 Corinthians10:3, 4)

The weapons of spiritual warfare are not worldly. They are powerful through God to demolish the devil’s forts. We don’t wage war with human plans and methods. Remember, we should always sharpen our spiritual weapons in prayer and by waiting before God with perseverance (Ephesians 6:13 -18).

The Lord of the Armies is with us. We stand still and know that He is God! (Psalms 46:9-11). Stop and listen to Him before you proceed!

Thought:

The two lives Jesus compares at the end of the Sermon on the Mount have several points in common: they both build, they both hear Jesus’ teaching, and they both experience the same set of circumstances in life. The difference between them isn’t caused by ignorance but by one ignoring what Jesus said. Externally, their lives may look similar; but the lasting structural differences will be revealed by the storms of life.

The immediate differences in your life when you decided to follow Jesus may not be obvious, but eventually they will turn out to affect even your eternal destiny.

To what degree does your life reflect the directions Jesus gave in this Sermon?

God is Omnipotent – all powerful good God

Our God has infinite power over ALL things great and small. ALL situations. Confidence in Christ

Thought: Confidence in Christ means that LORD Jesus does “strange things I cannot always understand”. In addition, a sense of humility in knowing God realizing that there will always be more to learn from Him. The appropriate response to God is a heart of wonder and awe in light of His incomprhensible greatness.
